Partial-Wave Analysis of the ηπ + π − System Produced in the Reaction π − p → ηπ + π − n at 18 GeV/c
A partial-wave analysis of 9082 ηππn events produced in the reaction πp → ηππn at 18.3 GeV/c has been carried out using data from experiment 852 at Brookhaven National Laboratory. The data are dominated by J = 0 partial waves consistent with observation of the η(1295) and the η(1440). The first observation of the η(1440) was made in pp annihilation at rest into η(1440)π+π−, η(1440) → KKπ [1]. Using 281 pb−1 of data collected with the CLEO-c detector, we present new measurements of Cabibbo-suppressed decays of D0 and D+ mesons to η and η′ final states. We make first observations of D0 → η′π0, ηη, ηη′, and ηπ+π−, and find evidence for D+ → ηπ+π0, D+ → η′π+π0 and D0 → η′π+π−. This work presents the results of analysis of a meson of mass mx = 1281.0 ± 0.8 MeV/c and a FWHM of Γx = 18.4 ± 1.4 MeV/c seen in CLAS at Jefferson Lab in photoproduction off the proton, γp → xp.
